Good food, long life?

The link between diet and heart disease will be the subject of the latest Aston University Inaugural Lecture given by Professor Helen Griffiths.

Prof Griffiths, from Aston University, is an expert in the relationship between diet and cardiovascular disease.

“Cardiovascular disease is a common complication of non-communicable diseases and their increasing prevalence is exacerbated by changes in diet,” she said.

“So what are the changes in our metabolism that contribute to the development of vascular diseases? How can we know if our diet is ‘biologically healthy’? Why does so much confusion exist over dietary vitamins – are they beneficial or not?”

These are some of the issues that will be tackled in the free lecture on Tuesday February 12 which begins at 6.30 pm, all are welcome.
